El Pozo Update – December 2014

chamoy covered apples

This year has been full of blessing!  The girls have grown-up so much – this next year most of the older girls are going to start high School.   Some of them couldn’t even read and now they have dreams to go to the university and start a business.

The big girls have a passion for baking so this trimester they started a new bakery workshop with a voluntary bakery chef. She taught them how to make sugar cookies, marmalade cookies, chocolate truffles, chocolate and chamoy-covered apples, cake pop and more. One of the girls hopes to become a bakery chef someday and is trying to learn as much as she can in the shelter and study hard so she can study professionally. The bakery workshop has inspired two other very artistic girls who love to decorate the treats, one of them wants to be a designer and make decorations for events professionally.   One of the other girls loves to draw and is so talented, she also love to read.

talent show

This fourth quarter we had a talent show to raise funds for a new house, the girls wanted to participate so they prepared two dances, performed a play and sang. For human trafficking victims it is a challenge for them to expose themselves to be criticism, but they are conquering their fears.  They are having a lot of fun with it and some have become real stars!   [“…so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’  Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”  Philippians 2: 15]

talent show2

We currently have fourteen girls ranging from ages 10 to 19 years old at the transition house.  The Well continues in its expansion plans so please help us pray for this project. In the meantime, the girls are going to start a gymnastic workshop so we can cover not only the spiritual, psychological, intellectual but also physical needs so they will be completely healthy.

christmas dinner1

We ended the year with a wonderful Christmas dinner, celebrating our Lord Jesus!

Thank you so much for your generous donations and for investing into the lives and health of underage trafficking victims in Mexico City. Alkare Foundation has been a huge blessing and we ask God to deeply bless you.

Sincerely grateful,
