Orphanages

Hello again

Once again, I wish to thank you for your kind support in the last months. Your kindness and generosity leaves me with no words but gratitude for you to our God.

As we progress in the year, I thought I need to inform you our progress at Kabwata Orphanage;

Not so good news first;

Since January we have release some children back to communities thy came from. We did try to hold on to them despite their bad behaviour which was also our concern for other children. As they are growing in such an environment like an orphanage, they will have no one to teach values for their future, we try to bring in the love of a mother and the guidance of the fathers for a hope of a future from God. Children just like your own, sometimes have their own kind thought s which derails them from opportunities that have been given to them as a present specially after losing parents. Just like in home you get to have some well behaved and coordinated children while others are like from Mars, where there is no life.

 To those who have visited us, you will agree with us that the Orphanage has been heaven place for these children. In such a case you expect children to behave, of course sometimes we let them be children and make mistakes just like any other. We have ended up sending or integrate some of the children into communities. Our biggest problem is where to send some of these kids who did not come from somewhere but from police stations. Where do you take them to? The orphanage is the only place they know. But we try get them into families of willing community members/ or transfer them to other centres. We have one particular boy who came when he was just 18 months and now he is about 7 years. He is one of the challenges I have in the centre. We managed to trace the mother whom we did not know was alive but is on the street as a prostitute for money and she is an armed robber! She doesn’t want her son because he is going to hinder her movements. That’s the same reason she abandoned him 6 years ago. This is what forms our Transit Centre is for children who may even have parents but abandoned. But one thing I know for sure is, Peter he will stay with us for a long time. Because he came when he was a toddler, and no one knew is name, we had to give him a name “Peter” after one of the Director from a company who was around when he was brought by the Police.

Case 2

Here is another case!!!! This boy is 8 years. His single mother was a cardiac patient when she first visited the Orphanage. She insisted that after she dies her son should not go back to her family. She never told us the reasons why but we believed and trusted her judgement.  Shortly she died and we buried her and kept her baby. Few months ago we got a visit from family members who wanted to know if a boy by the name was still alive.  W asked where they have been all the eight years of this child’ life, only to be told the saddest story at the Orphanage. Patrick was born from his mother’s uncle who was her guardian and has been completely rejected by the family. They clearly said that they will have nothing to do with him. Meaning that the boy is here to stay without his biological family. Please pray for Patrick and his future without biological family.

Now some good news and Challenge to you all!

Big achievement for the orphanage once again, 2 boys have completed secondary school with very good results. Paul got excellent results that he wants to go to university to study aero space engineering, (whatever that means) He had 4 distinctions, three credits and one merit. Though the examination council in Zambia has lost two of his subject’s result, we believe he will find them and that will even add more points to his already good results. Emmanuel has done well too and ready for college. Bearing in mind the  background they have come from, all that they endured and all efforts to achieve all that they have done , leaves a sweet , fulfilling  emotions in me, to you and to others who have been around to help them emerge.

Perhaps I would also take this opportunity to extend a thought that have been on my mind to help Paul get a scholarship into a university in your country. The course he wants is not available in Zambia. Can you consider helping Paul by finding a place that can take him with a scholarship? All that Paul has is His God, good result and a dream to achieve his intended goal.

Once again many thanks. I have attached my son Paul’s photo. By the way he is a good artist and flower arranger.

Hope this letter makes sense to you. I m not a good writer.

Many blessings and thanks again.
